I talked to my brother a few days ago, and we were talking about the lack of light at the moment. It is, I think, the hardest adjustment for those of us who come from sunny climes to make.

“Yeah,” he said from the comfort of a sunny North Carolina day, “I know. It’s the same here.”

Get real! (she says with a grin) It most certainly is not! It may be dark when you leave home and dark again when you leave the office, but that’s soooo not the same thing. Let’s test that, shall we?

Today Here There
sunrise 0939 0715
“noon” 1209 (due south)* 1210
sunset 1439 / 2:39pm 1733 / 5:33pm

******

I rest my case.

*”Due south” means that the sun is at what would be about a 1030 position and in the south; it clears the horizon, goes up a couple of degrees, then slides across until it goes down. We have less than a five-hour day.
