Really. I generally am. I’m an opinionated, obstinate, stubborn wench, but it really doesn’t take a whole lot to make me happy. For instance, today was our first freeze. The university is built like a greenhouse with bad insulation and worse ventilation, which means that during the summer you suffocate and during the winter you freeze. I and the four brave students who showed up for the first class this morning shivered our way through the class period, commiserated with one another about how chilly it was, and shook our head over the first icy sidewalks of the season. Four classes later as I caught the bus home, realized belatedly that they’d changed the route so that this particular bus no longer passes my stop, hiked the 20 minutes back to where I should have gotten off for the walk home and felt myself chilled to the bone, my only desire was for a warm pair of sweats and a hot cup of tea. That would have made me happy and generally content with my world.
Then I found this from my SP9 pal:

How cool a looking package! It was so pretty, I had to take a picture. And what was in it just made my day. Here:

It’s hard to see here, but that’s Claudia’s Hand Painted Yarn (100% merino) in the “Plumicious” color. It’s dark in this photo, but since this is Norway, lighting is at a premium right now. Claudia’s site has a much better color shot:

Is that not lovely? Does it not simply make you long for a pair of socks?
The bamboo DPNs make me feel as if I’m handling toothpicks (I who am accustomed to Inox grey metal circulars), and the stitch minder is just too cool for words, but I have to be honest and say that it’s the yarn which really has me smiling. This is one of those yarns which were on my list of “Yarns I’ve Just Gotta Try”; this is my first-ever skein of Claudia hand-painted yarn.
This and a cup of hot tea. How much more self-satisfied could a girl get?
